[Bari]

I didn't know where else to share this. Hope I'm in the right place I thought it would be fun to post where some ideas come from and why some of my dogs are names the way the are. A bit of history about me to get into context. I'm a native Argentine, born in the northern Patagonia region (the Bari Kennel home site has a pic of a typical landscape of the area), although raised partly there, partly in the US and partly in the capital city of Argentina. I love learning about new things and am a huge fan of Greek mythology among others (like Roman or Norse). I love to draw and paint although i don't have the time for it now and am a BIIIIIG Jason Mraz and Bastille fan. The reason I have so many kennels and breeds at the moment is because i am a major dog obsessive. I have defintely gone through phases of wanting to own different dog breeds throughout my life and am still looking to learn about as many of them as I can. On free times I will grab one of my dog breed encyclopedias, open a random page and read the entire breed profile, history and standard included. I can go about dogs all day! I have no favorite breed but am a big fan of Border Collies and Boxers because my first dog was a Border Collie named Gaspy (and because of the movie Babe. don't tell me Rex and Fly aren't the cutest BC's ever!) and I currently own a Boxer. But I do love big strong breeds, as are mastiff type breeds; although I have a soft spot for the slim athletic ones as are the greyhound, Irish wolfhound and Borzoi (yeah...maybe I should make a Borzoi template next). As I said, I can go on about dogs and animals in general all day! But I will cut this here so that I can get to the fun part: the trivia!

I will be posting whatever crosses my mind and think is interesting. and you guys are definitely free to ask me about anything! ANYTHING you might be curious about. Here goes...

[Bari]

Kennels



-All three of my kennels are named after a geographical point on a map

-Bari is short for Bariloche. Look it up guys! I fall in love with it every single time I go visit

-Lycabettus is the name of a mount in Athens, Greece. It means "the hill that is walked by wolves". Very fitting for a dog kennel

-Baires is a condensed short version for Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina and the province of the same name

-My first kennel, Bari, was inspired by Dova 's tutorials. I actually played the sims for about two weeks with the idea I wanted an in-game kennel and refusing to jpin random forums in the internet (i'm kinda paranoid that way). good thing I caved in



Dogs



-Bari's Lucky Charm is a Border Collie inspired by my first, Gaspy. I definitely wanted to name him "Lucky" and his official name came from that (and cereal brand I haven't eaten in ages but would definitely buy if I ever return to the States!)

-Many of my dogs' official names are inspired on Bastille's songs or lyrics. Among them are Things We Lost in the Fire, Overjoyed, Oblivion, Durban Skies, Laughter Lines and Pompeii. The names Sepia Tones and Albatross are part of the songs Durban Skies and Weight of Living. Dogs having these names are the Boxers, American Bulldog, Basset Hounds and Irish Wolfhounds.

-Call names for our Rottweiler and American Bulldog are Atlas and Axis, respectively. Both are the names of the first and second cervical vertebrae. And both dogs were bred by Codex

-Our Dogo, Bari's Che of VRK is named after Che Guevara (and guess why he was nicknamed che?). His call name is Vulcan, the Haphaestus equivalent in Roman mythology

-Are you a Thor or a Loki person? I'm definitely for Loki. Which was why our second male Dogo is nicknamed that. According to Norse mythology (and Wikipedia), Loki means or is related to "close" and "air", which is why his official name is Lycabettus Closeair

-Bari's Overjoyed Oblivion, the reverse brindle boxer, is an almost exact replica of a dog I used to have named Gaucho.

-Rocky and Adrian are the call names for Lycabttus' two boxers. Fitting, huh?

-Dogos with a black spot over their eyes are called "pirata", meaning pirate in spanish, hence our Dogo's name: Pirate Or (Or means gold in french)



Sims



-Back to Bastille, quite recently I realized that one of Bari's sims staff is hauntingly similar to Bastille's lead singer, Dan Smith. Below is the look-a-like comparison

-Buho and Mike Hawke from Bari are brothers. Hunter Hawke from Lycabettus is their uncle, which means Meagra is their aunt in-law and Lola their cousin. At the same time, Meagra Fame is aunt to Josefina and Merchant Fame (from Verum Hinnitum EC but they handle some of our dogs). And Josefina Fame is engaged to Danny Berkley, who is Falcon Berkley's (from Bari) brother, who is Mike's best friend. Quite the family connection...

-Cassidy Sundance (from Bari) is named after Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, who paid a visit to Argentina sometime in the early-ish 20th century

[Grandeur Kennels]

This seems like fun! 

Kennels: 

- Grandeur would not have been my first choice for a kennel name, but I had just seen that SKC was starting up again, so I picked a name quick and here I am now lol. Still, to accommodate the name, I made my own sims world where my sims can walk up the mountains and take a view of the grandeur of the world

- I changed the way my kennels looked 4 times before I stuck with this version. I'm a perfectionist, so every detail had to be perfect lol. I would say I'm pretty happy with my kennels now 



- I can't download much more onto my game, and I also can't download .rar files (it took me a year to figure out how to download pose player!), so if I see any lots I can't download, I try to recreate them myself. Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm not, but I like the idea of designing lots myself

- My kennels are always developing. I have plans to add a new focus breed, and a few more misc. breeds!

Dogs:

- My 2 focus breeds, the GSD and the Border Collie are my favorite breeds in the world! I have a 5 year old GSD now, and I really hope that some day I can have another, or a BC! Anyway, my love for these breeds just made it a given that I had to make them the focus of my kennels. 

- My in-game GSD, Jonas, is named after the Oliver Queen from the TV show, Arrow. Actually a lot of my dogs are named after TV or video games haha. 

- I'll admit, I have so much fun editing the fur on my collies, but I am not so good at it After seeing Dova's collies, I have my work cut out for me. (Any gimp advice would be great lol)

- I have a thing for naming dogs after Harry Potter, hence my merle collie, Lumos. Actually, Lumos' registered name (Grandeur's Mischief Managed) is the same as my real dog's registered name. (Reidenbreek's Mischief Managed)

    

- My sims have a personal dog named Chica. She is an exact replica of Markiplier's Golden Retriever.

Sims:

- One of my handlers, Mark Edwards, is named after Markiplier. (Mark Edward Fischbach)

- The owners of my kennel and handlers Mark Edwards and Damien Rhodes all live in the same house together. Only one other handler lives somewhere else. Alice Hofsteader handles most of the misc breeds.

Haha you will laugh but my Irish Wolfhound's call name is Speedy, after Thea Queen
And OMG, Harry Potter is awesome. Great idea to use "mischief managed" as a name. love it!
