Hello everyone! And welcome to the Lycabettus Kennel! You may see some familiar faces around here as I decided to split my Bari Kennel dogs. All my working group dogs have been moved here, leaving the herding dogs at Bari, in essence the Border Collie kennel.
We follow what we call the "Pentathlon of Excellence", which consists of five fundamental points that we strive for in all our dogs: Conformation, Health, Versatility, Protection and Temperament. These must all be balanced in order to have a stable and reliable working companion and pet. Our focus breeds are the Rottweiler, American Bulldog, Boxer and Dogo Argentino and very recently added the English Mastiff. We also own a Shiba Inu who basically bosses the big boys around. The kennel is run by the Hawke family (not the Hawke brothers from Bari!). Hunter Hawke is actually Mike and Buho's uncle, and along with his wife, Meagra and teen daughter, Lola, they run the kennel, training and caring for them.
Lycabettus is the name of a mountain in Athens, Greece, which means "the hill that is walked by wolves". The theme for the site and kennel was inspired by Bastille's song, Pompeii, and other historical and mythological references that derived in ancient Greece. As you may soon see, our facilities do not look Greek at all, but it's the essence what matters. Our dogs are warriors, pure of heart and loyal companions, ready to protect and please, not as gruesome as the Spartans, but sure as heck as fearless.
