About Us
At Windstrom, we breed and compete show and working quality Belgian Malinois and Border Collies. We have had Belgian Malinois since 1985, and we added Border Collies to our kennel in the 1990's. As of now, we are first and foremost a competition kennel. Our females are only pregnant 1-2 times per year. We make sure our bitches are comfortable during pregnancy and have the least amount of stress possible. All of our dogs are health tested and have at least 15 points before they are bred. Right now, our main goal is to create strong, confident, non-neurotic BC's and Belgian Mals. In the future, we may expand to more breeds.
Belgian Malinois
Our Malinois are very capable dogs. We breed and train them to do it all, meaning they can easily do work and show conformation at the same time. Our Mals are agile and intelligent, making them easy to train.
Border Collies
Our Border Collies are a bit different than our Mals. As of now, we only breed sport quality BC's. Most likely, you won't see a Windstrom-bred Border Collie in a conformation show. However, we do plan on acquiring show collies from other kennels.
Puppies and Training
We train and socialize our dogs from a very young age. By 2 months of age, all puppies are introduced to household sounds such as the TV and hairdryers. By 4 months, our pups are comfortable being outside, being around other dogs, and being around all sorts of people. This socialization process carries on through all stages of puppyhood and are confident and calm in all situations through adulthood. All of our dogs are trained using positive, force free methods. Whether the dog is in confo, agility, frisbee, schutzhund, or any other sport, our dogs always have the choice to do something. And we make sure we make the choice to do something very rewarding.
