Baires Grounds

Baires Grounds is a sister kennel to Lycabettus. We specialize in producing optimal working hounds and loyal family pets, being the health and temperament of our animals our first priority. This is the reason you will see our Basset Hounds have fewer wrinkles and resemble the specimens from the beginning of the 20th century. These dogs looked more like dogs and were capable of fulfilling their jobs as scent hounds without the rising health issues the breed has today, such as skin and back problems. As a low legged, heavy boned breed, it has a strong predisposition towards these issues; however, with a carefully planned breeding program we look to eradicate them as much as we can, guaranteeing healthy bloodlines. Luckily, the Irish Wolfhound has gone through little changes throughout their history and still resemble the regal hounds that could be seen in paintings with the rich and noble of medieval times.
Currently we focus on these two breeds but in the future we hope to expand and include other hounds at our kennel
Edit: We have included the elegant and regal looking Borzoi to our kennel! These sighthounds have very little health issues and are excellent lure coursers and companions.

The addition of Audlin's Scéolang merits (finally)  the creation of Baires Grounds' thread. Here is our new boy! He is a beautiful Irish Wolfhound, regal and proud like his ancestors, who comes from Audlin Kennel. So far he has shown an excellent hunting drive and instict and gets along well with our female, Speedy. He has yet to be introduced to our male IW, Finster, as we don't want to create a sudden conflict due to male dominance over toerritory. This will be handled carefully by our staff, mostly because of their large size.
We are still looking for the right call name for him, so if youhave any suggestions let us know!
